A meeting was held in the capital's secondary school No. 101 to improve financial literacy and strengthen the safety of children. The meeting, organized by the City Department of Education and the Department of Economic Investigations, was attended by heads and teachers of educational organizations, the official website of the city Akimat reports.
Currently, both adults and children unknowingly become victims of scams. This was announced during the meeting by the head of the Astana City Education Department Kasymkhan Sengaziev.
"Children actively use the Internet and mobile devices. On the one hand, this opens up new opportunities, but on the other hand, it can expose them to various threats, they can become victims of "droppers", online scams and financial crimes. Therefore, one of the key aspects of ensuring the safety of our students is their awareness and protection in the digital space. In this direction, programs of open extracurricular activities have been developed for students in grades 5-11, which will help prevent risks and develop useful skills," Kasymkhan Sengaziev said.
And the head of the investigative department of the Department of Economic Investigations in Astana, Mels Akylbayev, noted that today, unfortunately, the number of young people who succumb to promises of easy earnings, place bets, are addicted to gambling and financial pyramids is growing.
"Despite the fact that various measures were taken in the country aimed at eliminating the consequences of illegal gambling, citizens were attracted to working underground. Most of the victims of gambling are young people. Therefore, it is important to carry out comprehensive work with the younger generation. Thus, 2,500 deceived citizens got into financial pyramids in the republic, they lost 3 billion tenge. Therefore, it is important for teenagers to listen to what their parents say, and not to chase after easy money," M. Akylbayev said.
