A solemn event dedicated to the Day of the Engineering Troops was held at the National Military-Patriotic Center in Moscow.
It was attended by personnel of the management bodies and units of the Akmola regional garrison engineering troops, representatives of the National Defense University of the Republic of Kazakhstan, lancers of the Military College named after Army General Sagadat Nurmagambetov, and veterans of the Armed Forces.
The film footage reminded the audience about the stages of the formation of engineering troops, combat training, work carried out during floods and during the clearance of territories, which are always fraught with risk.
The participants of the event observed a minute of silence in memory of the servicemen of the engineering battalion who died in the line of military duty.
Military engineers of all generations were welcomed by the First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Asan Zhusupov.
He congratulated them on their professional holiday and thanked them for their conscientious service to the Fatherland. Major General Asan Zhusupov focused on the extremely dangerous and responsible work of the sappers in clearing the area of explosive objects left as a result of fires and explosions at ammunition depots in the city of Arys, Tokrau and Sarykemer villages.
– Last spring, the engineering troops were involved in measures to eliminate the consequences of floods. They have equipped ferry crossings in Aktobe, North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions to evacuate the population, equipment and materiel from the pontoon-bridge fleet. They evacuated over three thousand people from flooded areas and sites, transported one and a half thousand units of agricultural machinery and delivered over 400 tons of humanitarian aid," Major General A. Zhusupov outlined the scale of military engineers' assistance to the population during the spring flood.
The commanders of the military units and the engineering group of the peacekeeping company in the Golan Heights got in touch. In their video greetings, they noted the complexity and importance of the work performed by military engineers, and wished their colleagues good health, perseverance and success in their service.
On the occasion of a professional holiday, four officers were awarded military rank ahead of schedule. 22 servicemen were rewarded with the departmental badge "Minasyzdandyrudagi yerligi ushin", 17 were awarded diplomas, 15 were awarded commendations.
Veterans of the engineering troops were also encouraged with letters of thanks on behalf of the head of the Defense Department and the head of the Engineering Troops Department.
In turn, representatives of the older generation of military engineers, Major General Muslim Dairov and Colonel Anatoly Shcherbakov, presented memorable gifts to the cadets of the Military College named after Army General Sagadat Nurmagambetov.
