The Karaganda cinema named after Lenin, which is an integral part of the city's history, has been returned to state ownership.

The cinema opened in 1960 and became the first two-hall widescreen cinema in Karaganda. This building has seen high-profile premieres, festivals and film forums, becoming the center of the city's cultural life. However, in 1998, the site was illegally excluded from the list of historical and cultural monuments, and then privatized.

The Kazybek bi District Prosecutor's Office carried out a difficult and lengthy work to prove the illegality of privatization in court. The trial lasted several months. Due to the evidence of violations provided, the court decided to return the cinema to state ownership.

This event is an important step in preserving the cultural heritage of the region. The Lenin Cinema will once again become the center of cultural life in Karaganda.
