In the last three days, bad weather has broken out in the Karaganda region. Unfavorable conditions caused 68 rescue visits, during which 23 stuck cars were freed from snow jams and 75 people were evacuated.
To ensure safety, it was decided to close 18 sections of roads, including 10 of republican and 8 of regional significance. There were 1,623 pieces of equipment and 3,653 people at the posts where traffic jams were formed. Special attention was paid to children: 91 children out of the total number of evacuees.
Temporary posts have been set up in crowded areas. 138 pieces of equipment and 279 people were involved in the operation, including employees of the Department of Emergency Situations, police, local authorities and volunteers.
The necessary conditions were created for those who found themselves in a difficult situation on the roads: more than 600 people, including 50 children, were accommodated in eight heating points, and 25 people, including three children, found shelter in roadside campsites.
Everyone was provided with hot meals.
In addition, 160 heads of horses, 200 heads of small cattle and 206 heads of cattle from 10 trucks on the republican highway Almaty - Yekaterinburg were escorted and placed in the village of Ushtobe, Bukhar–Zhyrau district.
The Department of Emergency Situations actively informed residents of the region by sending 20 SMS notifications, including 5 storm warnings and 15 about road closures. Warnings were also broadcast on the radio, and 24 messages with up-to-date information and recommendations were posted in the Darman application.
Joint efforts and prompt actions on the part of rescue services, police, volunteers and local authorities helped to prevent the severe consequences of bad weather.
