On September 9, 2024, a law prohibiting outdoor advertising of bookmakers and bookmaker shops came into force in Kazakhstan. Before the law came into force, the Astana-Zharnama state institution of the Astana city akimat carried out explanatory work for the owners of advertising structures. Thanks to these measures, more than 290 objects with advertising for bookmakers were removed in the capital before the law came into force, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
“Astana-Zharnama” continues to monitor outdoor advertising. In cooperation with district akimats, events aimed at explaining the requirements of the law to entrepreneurs are regularly held. If violations are detected, illegal advertising will be removed, and those distributing it will be held administratively liable.
Entrepreneurs are regularly informed, and brochures are being issued on the need to comply with legal requirements.
According to the law, it is prohibited to advertise bookmakers on building facades, open areas, vehicles, and external structures. Advertising is allowed only in bookmakers, sports facilities, and sports equipment. It is also prohibited to use logos and trademarks of bookmakers in advertising other types of business.
According to Article 455 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, a fine of 236 thousand to 1.5 million tenge is imposed for violation of the law.
