In Geneva, as part of the defense of the National Report of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Sarsembayev met with the UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Nada Al-Nashif, and held a fruitful dialogue and exchange of views on mutually beneficial opportunities for strengthening the provision of human rights in Kazakhstan.
Various aspects of human rights in Kazakhstan were also discussed. The parties exchanged views on the work done and shared their experiences in improving the legal system.
Special attention was paid to the recommendations of the High Commissioner following his official visit to Kazakhstan in March 2023 and promising areas of cooperation between state bodies and the Office of the High Commissioner.
As a result of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on further cooperation within promising areas.
Kazakhstan expressed its readiness to continue work in areas of mutual interest.
