The Kazakh delegation, led by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aidarbek Saparov, visited large agro-industrial complexes and scientific centers during a working visit to the Russian Federation.
At the Genomic Selection Center of the Miratorg Agricultural Production Association, the minister was informed about the methods used in breeding work. They are based on the study of DNA sequences, which allows predicting the breeding value of animals at an early age, while traditional methods can take several years.
The center conducts 400 thousand DNA studies per year and is among the top 10 genetic veterinary laboratories in the world in terms of productivity.
Work is underway to create a domestic genomic index of breeding value for the Aberdeen-Angus breed and popular dairy breeds of cattle, reduce production costs while improving the quality of meat and milk. The project will allow to increase the efficiency of breeding work in a short time, to provide livestock breeders with high-quality genetic material.
Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan also visited the full-cycle breeding center "Smena".
Here, the selection of domestic crosses of chickens for meat is established, the most modern equipment and advanced technologies for working with poultry are used. The complex includes a poultry farm for raising and selecting chicks; two farms for keeping an adult breeding herd, and an incubator for raising about 26 million daily chickens per year. More than 300 people work at the "Smena" SGO - these are scientific workers, breeders and other specialists.
The delegation concluded its working trip with a visit to the greenhouse complex "Lukhovitsky Vegetables".
The enterprise is the leading producer of protected ground cucumbers in the Moscow region. The equipment at Lukhovitsky Vegetables allows you to grow tomatoes and cucumbers all year round. Up to 40 thousand tons of vegetables are harvested at the complex per year.
