An important meeting was held at the Ministry of Digitalization. It was attended by the Minister of Digitalization Zhaslan Khasenuly Madiev, the Minister of Education Gani Bektauly Beisembayev, and the President of the Sports Programming Federation Bagdat Batyrbekuly Musin. Measures to develop education in the field of artificial intelligence were discussed at the meeting.
The main event of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation. This document laid the foundation for the beginning of a new stage in artificial intelligence education in the country. As an important result of this agreement, it was decided to hold the first republican AI Olymp Olympiad on artificial intelligence among schoolchildren.
The Olympiad is aimed at identifying and supporting talented students interested in artificial intelligence and related areas (sports programming, mathematics, data analysis), as well as preparing students for the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad.
“We are organizing this event as part of the "Generative Nation" initiative, which expresses our desire to create a society of the future. As a state, we are happy to support our young talents and create conditions for the implementation of their ideas. Sports programming is not just an intellectual competition, it is a school of thinking and perseverance. Here, young specialists prepare for real-life challenges by overcoming complex tasks. The first republican AI Olymp Olympiad on artificial intelligence for schoolchildren is a great opportunity for talented students to show themselves in the fields of programming, mathematics and data analysis. This will be the first step towards the development of Kazakhstan's artificial intelligence ecosystem and opening the way to international achievements,” noted Zhaslan Madiev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“Today, Kazakhstan is boldly introducing advanced technologies into the educational process and keeping up with the times. Holding the AI ​​Olymp Olympiad is a strategic step towards unlocking the potential of our talented students and training a new generation of highly qualified specialists. It is important for our young people to feel supported,” noted Gani Beisembayev, Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Olympiad will be held in two stages in the spring. Students from all over the country can participate in the online selection stage, where they will solve programming, mathematics and classical machine learning tasks. The best 30-40 participants will be invited to the final stage, where they will solve practical tasks related to machine learning algorithms, data analysis and artificial intelligence concepts.
The participants who have shown the best results will have the opportunity to undergo special training to determine the composition of the Kazakhstan team at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) to be held in Beijing, China, on August 2-9, 2025.
