Madrid, September 18, 2026 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Spain Danat Mussayev held a meeting with Member of the European Parliament Francisco Millán Mon.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of Kazakhstan’s cooperation with the European Union and, in particular, with the European Parliament. Particular attention was paid to further strengthening political dialogue and exploring new opportunities within the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the EU.

Danat Mussayev briefed the MEP on the new stage of Kazakhstan’s political modernization following the entry into force of the new Constitution and the elections to the unicameral Kurultai. It was emphasized that the ongoing reforms are aimed at further strengthening representative institutions, expanding political participation and enhancing the effectiveness of public administration.

The parties also discussed promising areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union, with a focus on enhancing transport connectivity, developing the Middle Corridor, and expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation. In this context, the importance of the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Brussels in June this year was highlighted.

Francisco Millán positively assessed the consistent nature of the political reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan and expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union.

Following the meeting, the interlocutors agreed to maintain working contacts and continue constructive dialogue on issues of mutual interest.
