On January 25-26, 2025, the final round of selection for the FIRST Robotics Championship will be held in Astana with the participation of more than 800 students and their coaches.
The main theme of this year's FIRST Championship is the study of the underwater world, which is a global environmental problem.
The selection includes two stages:
• FLL Challenge - lower-grade students program LEGO robots to solve engineering tasks.
• ⁠FIRST Tech Challenge - upper-grade students build robots from metal structures to perform complex tasks.
The FIRST Championship has been held since 1980. Kazakhstan has been actively participating in this championship since 2017. During this time, the national team has become three-time (2022, 2023, 2024) world champion in the FIRST Global Challenge.
It is worth noting that from February 20-23, the Almaty Tech Cup competition, the Central Asian Robotics Championship, will be held in Almaty as part of the World FIRST program. It is planned that more than 5,000 students and their coaches will participate.
