The 7th meeting of the Kazakh-Estonian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, under the chairmanship of Minister of Transport M.Karabayev from the Kazakh side and Minister of Foreign Affairs M. Tsakhkna from the Estonian side.
About 50 representatives of government agencies, national companies and businesses from Kazakhstan participated in the event.
The parties discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of trade and economic cooperation, transport and logistics, agriculture, digitalization, as well as education.
On the sidelines of the meeting, a bilateral meeting was held with the Minister of Infrastructure of Estonia, V. Sveta. Special attention was paid to expanding transit opportunities and improving logistics links between Kazakhstan and Estonia, including through the seaports of both countries.
The Head of the Ministry of Transport also held a number of bilateral meetings with the heads of major Estonian companies such as Eesti Raudtee, Muuga Grain Terminal, Skinnest Groupp, as well as the ports of Sillamae and Tallinn. As a result of the meetings, promising areas of development with the Estonian business were identified.
Following the meeting, a Protocol was signed that includes concrete steps to implement joint projects in the transport and logistics sector, as well as agreements to strengthen cooperation in the economy, digitalization, education and other sectors. The next meeting of the commission is scheduled in Astana in 2026.
