A hand-to-hand combat tournament for the Cup of the Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held at the Abyroy Sports Complex in the capital.
More than fifty servicemen in six teams competed for the title of the said Cup. International-class athletes and masters of sports fought in nine weight categories.
The commander of the special operations forces, Colonel Aidos Myrzakhmetov, noted the importance of army hand-to-hand combat in improving the combat skills of special forces, improving their physical fitness, and strengthening moral and psychological stability.
The fight on the tatami was attended by the Chairman of the Sports Committee of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Head of the Army Central Sports Club, Colonel Arman Abeuov, Secretary General of the Hand-to-Hand Combat Association of the Republic of Kazakhstan Adil Kairbayev, freestyle wrestler of Kazakhstan, Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, bronze medalist of the London Olympics Akzhurek Tanatarov, Head of the Combat and Special Training Headquarters of the State Guard Service Anton Amanbayev, Head of the Physical Culture and Sports Department of the Main Command of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan Colonel Satzhan Abishev.
According to the results of the competition, the first place was taken by the servicemen of the 22750th military unit, the second place by the athletes of the 36814th military unit, and the third place by the scouts of the 20709th military unit.
The special nomination "Best Athlete" was awarded to the contract serviceman Sergeant Bauyrzhan Sultanov, and the nomination "For Will to Victory" was awarded to Senior Sergeant Askar Askarov.
The champions and prize-winners of the tournament were awarded cash prizes and gifts. The strongest in the hare-army fight will receive a ticket to the Spartakiad of the Armed Forces of the country.
