In the Sarayshyk district of the capital, a raid was conducted in entertainment establishments to identify illegal hookah smoking, the official website of the Astana akimat reports.
The preventive measure was organized by employees of the district akimat together with the police department.
During the raid in two establishments in the Sarayshyk district, evidence of hookah smoking was discovered. Violators were imposed an administrative fine of 117,960 tenge. A counter-recommendation was issued to the establishment to eliminate the causes and circumstances that contributed to the violation. The hookahs were confiscated.
It was noted that when developing the raid action plan, law enforcement agencies took into account the complaints of city residents and conducted an analysis of violations in the specified areas. The police noted that such raids are carried out on a regular basis, intensifying on weekends and holidays.
"In accordance with Article 441 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Kazakhstan, administrative liability in the amount of 15 MCI is provided for violations," said Galym Mustakhanov, a major of the district police.
Recall that the resolution on the introduction of a ban on smoking hookahs in public places came into force on March 14, 2013. In case of violation of the relevant requirement, hookah smokers will be fined in the amount of 15 MCI. For repeated violations - 20 MCI. And the owners of the establishments will be fined from 20 to 60 MCI.
