1,600 athletes gathered in Almaty for the Kazakhstan Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Karaganda residents won 26 medals: 6 gold, 9 silver and 11 bronze. Fifteen jujitsu athletes from our region won the right to represent the country in the international arena as part of the national team.
80 athletes from the Karaganda region took part in the tournament, including multiple prize-winners and winners of competitions at various levels - the 2024 world champion among juniors Asanaly Abayev, as well as Zhiger Almatai and Asylmurat Sagyndyk, known for their achievements in the international and national arenas.
The championship was also judged by an international-level referee from our region, Eleuken Bek-Mukhammed.
“The main task for us was to show excellent results in order to prove ourselves and secure participation in the national team of Kazakhstan,” noted Ayan Shermagambetov, president of the Karaganda region Jiu-Jitsu Federation. – Our athletes have won many awards in different age and weight categories, demonstrating not only a high level of training and professionalism, but also a true fighting spirit. For example, Asanaly Abayev did not leave any chance for his opponents to score points. He dominated in every fight.
A variety of competitions await the jiu-jitsu fighters. In February, the athletes will participate in the Asian Championship, and in the fall in the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
The Karaganda BJJ Open Championship-2025 home tournament, where Karaganda residents can perform well and achieve high results, will also be an important stage.
