On the day of the complete end of the Leningrad blockade, a wreath-laying ceremony was held in the capital at the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union Aliya Moldagulova.
It was attended by the leadership of the Defense Ministry, servicemen of the Akmola garrison, veterans of the Armed Forces, pupils of the "Young Soldier" military-patriotic movement, and Zhuldyz Nurtas, the grandson of Abubakir Moldagulov, where Aliya was raised.
The solemn ceremony was accompanied by a flag group, an honor guard company, and a military orchestra. The participants of the event observed a minute of silence in memory of the heroes who died in the Great Patriotic War.
Deputy Minister of Defense for Education and Ideological Work, Major General Shaikh-Hasan Zhazykbayev, noted that the Great Patriotic War was also a great test for the people of Kazakhstan. One million two hundred thousand people from the republic went to the front, of which 600,000 did not return.
- Our compatriots participated in all battles, from the defense of the Brest Fortress to the hoisting of the Victory Banner over the Reichstag, - said the Deputy Minister of Defense. - Kazakhstan made a great contribution to the defense of the city on the Neva. In the battles for the besieged city, the heroic daughter of the Kazakh people, Aliya Moldagulova, died heroically. She became a symbol of courage, patriotism and selflessness.
The 310th Rifle Division, formed in Akmola, and the 314th Rifle Division, formed in Petropavlovsk, took part in the defense of the city on the Neva. The complete liberation of Leningrad from the enemy siege was possible only in January 1944. On January 14, during the Leningrad-Novgorod operation, Aliya Moldagulova died heroically.
- Aliya Moldagulova proved her heroism with this feat. The Great Patriotic War and the heroism of Kazakhstanis in it will never fade. We must preserve this in our memory and pass it on to future generations, - noted Major General Shaikh-Hasan Zhazykbayev.
It should be noted that this ceremony was not only a commemoration of Aliya Moldagulova, but also the beginning of events held in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
