The organized crime units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are constantly working to find and seize weapons, ammunition, and explosives.
Since the beginning of this year, during operational search operations, 20 firearms and traumatic weapons have been seized, including 4 lost during the January incident, as well as 6 grenades and more than 150 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.
For example, the Almaty Organized Crime Department, together with the staff of the pre-trial detention center, identified a weapons cache in the Turksib district. 3 shotguns, 3 pistols, 4 grenades, about 50 cartridges, as well as a carbine stolen from a weapons store during the January incident were seized.
In Taraz, 2 shotguns and a combat crossbow stolen during the January incident were found.
A TOZ rifle with 56 cartridges and an F-1 grenade were seized in Aktobe.
In Almaty region, 2 weapons, an RGD-5 grenade and 20 cartridges for a Kalashnikov assault rifle, as well as 2 Makarov pistols stolen during the January incident were found.
In Taldykorgan city, 5 traumatic pistols were seized from a local resident's car.
- Over the past two years, units fighting organized crime have seized more than 1,000 weapons from illegal circulation, including 130 weapons stolen during the January incident.
Work in this direction is under the special control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, - said Kuandyk Alpys, a representative of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
