Elmira Syzdykova from Karaganda won a gold medal in the 76 kg weight category at the Ivan Yarygin Cup international freestyle and women's wrestling tournament in Krasnoyarsk (Russia). The best wrestlers from 17 countries of the world took part in the competition in the city located on the banks of the Yenisei River.
Elmira Syzdykova competed in the final with a Mongolian athlete, a participant in the Paris Olympics. The athlete from Karaganda defeated her opponent.
- The main upcoming competitions for us are this year's World Championships and the next Asian Games, - says the athlete's coach Vladislav Sutormin. - Elmira's serious injury prevented her from qualifying for the Paris Olympics. But now she has fully recovered. In the near future, we expect changes in the selection for the Olympic Games from the International Wrestling Federation. Weight categories may be changed and a rating system, like in judo, may be introduced. We will rely on new conditions. But participating in the Olympics is our main goal.
