Timofei Muravyev from Karaganda became the first Kazakhstani to compete in the FAI World Drone Racing Championship. The competition, which took place in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest event in terms of the number of participating countries. 143 pilots from more than 50 countries of the world came to the competition. Despite his young age, Timofei managed to show himself and entered the top 16 pilots in the world.
- This is, of course, a great achievement to achieve the world championship. The World Drone Championship has been held since 2016, and this is the first time a Kazakh representative is participating. We studied carefully. Over two days, 64 participants competed in the qualifying round. Timofei was in the same group as the world champions, - said the athlete's father Sergey Muravyev.
Timofei Muravyev, a pilot of the NSP KazGeoScan team, entered the last competition and reached the quarterfinals. One of his opponents was the current world champion from Japan, Yuki Hashimoto. The Polish USA MultiGP champion Pawel Laszczak lost to the 11-year-old Karaganda resident by only 1.3 seconds. He completed three laps with a result of 00:58:020.
During the race, the pilot, who controls the aircraft from the ground with the help of special glasses, reaches a speed of up to 200 kilometers per hour.
Timofei Muravyov from Karaganda is the No. 1 pilot in Kazakhstan. Multiple winner of Kazakhstani and international championships. Last year, he represented Kazakhstan at the international technofest in Turkey.
The key to success is constant training and the pursuit of improvement.
- To be among the best, you need to constantly compete and understand your level. This year, the Kazakhstan Championship will be held in Almaty, and we will start preparing, - noted Sergey Muravyov.
