An expanded meeting of the Government was held under the chairmanship of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, members of the Government, the Chairman of the National Bank, akims of the regions and the cities of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent, heads of central state bodies and national companies.
During the meeting, the Head of State outlined the main areas of the Government's work. In particular, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev focused on specific tasks and plans for diversifying the economy, raising infrastructure development to a new level, comprehensively introducing digital technology, developing energy and creating a nuclear cluster, increasing the potential of the agro-industrial complex, reforming tax and budget policy, providing financial sources for important projects, as well as regulating social support, and further developing the healthcare, education and science sectors.
According to the President, the entire state apparatus must work effectively to implement the tasks set.
– There are many challenges in the new era. To overcome it, we need an appropriate strategy. I have already spoken about the specific direction of reforms and ways to implement them. The government must make complex decisions to save the country's economy from stagnation and ensure sustainable development, and most importantly, implement them. This is the work of highly qualified civil servants who are ready to take responsibility. If we look at world experience, the effectiveness of the state apparatus is clearly visible in such difficult times. The government, no matter how difficult it is, must move to massive savings and spend budget funds only on solving the most urgent problems. It is time to step up. We need to stop unnecessary spending and pull ourselves together, - said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reported on the socio-economic development of the country in the past period and the Government's plans for this year. Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin presented the principles for reforming the country's fiscal system, that is, the tax and budget sectors. The Chairman of the National Bank Timur Suleimenov made a speech on issues related to monetary policy. The Chairman of the Board of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund Nurlan Zhakypov reported on the activities of the Fund.
In addition, the Akim of Astana Zhenis Kasymbek, the Akim of Shymkent Gabit Syzdykbekov, and the Akim of Kyzylorda Region Nurlybek Nalibayev made reports.
