Starting from September 1, 2026, the requirement for mandatory digital labeling of beer and beer drinks bottled in glass containers will come into force in Kazakhstan. All products manufactured in the country or imported from outside starting from this date are subject to mandatory labeling with the Data Matrix code.
Phased introduction of labeling of beer and beer drinks:
- from February 1, 2026 – products in kegs;
- from September 1, 2026 – products in glass bottles;
- from January 1, 2027, products in tin cans.
The introduction of digital labeling will ensure end–to-end traceability of goods along the entire chain - from the manufacturer or importer to the retail buyer, and also guarantees electronic registration and confirmation of documents when transferring products between turnover participants.
What should market participants do?
1. Register with the IP MPT on the portal tanba.markirovka.kz .
2. Fill out and register the product cards.
3. Go through the procedures for obtaining and applying marking codes in advance.
4. Ensure that the equipment and accounting systems are ready for the transfer and confirmation of electronic documents during the turnover of the marked goods.
It's important for the leftovers. The sale of unmarked remnants of beer and beer drinks produced or imported before the date of introduction of mandatory labeling is allowed for one calendar year according to the approved list.
Market participants are advised not to postpone the preparation until September 1. Timely launch of processes will help to avoid disruptions in the sale of products and organically switch to new legal requirements.
