In Astana, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Alarko Holding company, and the Shymkent city administration on attracting investments with Alsera KZ LLP. This is being implemented within the framework of the project “Construction and operation of a greenhouse complex in Kazakhstan”.
The negotiations were also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kazakhstan Mustafa Kapucu, representatives of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Invest NC.
“The Head of State has repeatedly stressed the importance of attracting investments in the agricultural sector. Turkey is one of the main partners of Kazakhstan in the agro-industrial complex. To date, a number of large joint projects have been implemented on product processing and the introduction of advanced technologies. Turkish companies are actively investing in grain processing, the meat and dairy industry, the development of greenhouse farming, and irrigation systems.
We have signed an investment agreement with Alsera KZ. "The long-term commitments stipulated in the agreement will ensure the sustainability of the project for 25 years," noted the Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan began joint work with the Turkish investor, the parent company "Alarko Holding" in August 2023 by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation and a Roadmap. A memorandum was also signed between the Shymkent city administration and the company.
The contract provides for cooperation in the implementation of the project for the construction and operation of a greenhouse complex in Shymkent.
The complex is capable of growing 155 thousand tons of tomatoes per year. The implementation of the project will consist of two stages and is planned to be put into operation in 2028. As a result, up to 5,000 jobs will be created.
The total cost of the project is 650 million US dollars. The financing is 100 percent at the expense of the foreign investor.
The state will provide comprehensive support measures to investors through tax preferences and the development of the necessary infrastructure.
The minister also noted the social focus of the project. The investor plans to develop social infrastructure, build playgrounds, kindergartens, and start landscaping the territories.
"This project will be a vivid example of effective cooperation. It will also open up new horizons for attracting further investment in the agro-industrial complex. Cooperation will open the way for the exchange of experience, technologies, and increased trade in the agricultural sector. I am confident that joint efforts will contribute to increasing food security and the competitiveness of agricultural products of both countries," the minister noted.
