THE MINISTER OF SCIENCE AND HIGHER EDUCATION OF THE RK MET WITH THE CHINESE AMBASSADOR
The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the RK Sayasat Nurbek met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the PRC to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin. The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education and science.
The Minister told the ambassador about the reforms being carried out by the Ministry to develop and strengthen the higher education and science system of Kazakhstan. Among them, plans were also made to create an educational hub in Central Asia. The main priorities of the department, identified by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, were also presented.
During the meeting, Sayasat Nurbek noted the uniqueness of the Lu Ban Workshop, which operates at the D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University and the branch of the Beijing Language and Culture University at the Astana International University. The Minister noted that cooperation between Kazakh and Chinese universities provides students with unique opportunities for training and professional growth, contributes to the development of language skills, intercultural communication and scientific research.
In turn, the Chinese Ambassador, Mr. Han Chunlin, noted the high level of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and highlighted the interest of Kazakhstani youth in studying in the PRC, which demonstrates their interest in studying the Chinese language and culture.
During the discussion, the parties considered the organizational issues of holding the first meeting of the Ministers of Education of the countries of Central Asia and China, as well as the prospects for establishing a Subcommittee on Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education and Science in order to expand academic and scientific cooperation with higher and vocational educational institutions of the two countries and establish permanent direct contacts on topical issues between the authorized departments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the PRC.
Following the results of the meeting, the parties confirmed their desire to develop partnership relations and deepen cooperation in the fields of higher education and science.
