Today, events dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayuly began at the Abai State Museum-Reserve "Zhidebai-Borili".
This year, the poet's anniversary and the 85th anniversary of the Abai Museum coincide.
On this occasion, the Abai Museum hosted a cultural and educational event "Abai, a giant of world thought" and an exhibition on the theme "Abai in the visual arts".
Representatives of the intelligentsia and employees of cultural and art institutions participated in the event.
Deputy Akim of Abai region Zhasulan Sarsebayev noted that the anniversary will be celebrated in the region at a worthy level.
"Abai holds a special place for our region. Since our region bears the name of the great poet, this anniversary will be held at a worthy level. Priority will be given to cultural, spiritual and educational events. "In addition, it is planned to open a monument to Abai in Italy," he said.
Also, during the event, Abai songs were sung and an excerpt from the tragedy "Zhaza-Naza" by the Abai Musical and Drama Theater was presented to the public.
