As part of the improvement of the system of awarding sports titles and categories, a draft new order has been developed, providing for changes in all sports, including sports such as acrobatics and rhythmic gymnastics.
The assignment of sports titles, categories and qualification categories is regulated by the norms and requirements approved by the Order of the Acting Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 28, 2014 No. 56 "On Approval of norms and requirements for the assignment of sports titles, categories and qualification categories" (hereinafter – the Order).
At the same time, the assignment process itself, including the procedure for submitting applications, is determined by Order No. 300 of July 29, 2014, which regulates the entire mechanism for awarding and depriving sports titles, categories and qualification categories.
The amendment of the new order provides for standards for many sports, including the introduction of a point-based assessment system for rhythmic gymnastics and sports acrobatics, developed by republican accredited sports federations. Until now, titles and ranks in these sports have been awarded solely on the basis of the prizes won.
The new rules also provide for a unified approach to awarding titles and grades for all categories of sports: Olympic, Paralympic, national, non-Olympic, technical, military-applied and others. The draft order clarifies the requirements for all sports, developed in cooperation with relevant sports federations.
Athletes who have fulfilled the requirements of the new order will retain the right to be awarded titles and ranks, including the results achieved at competitions before the entry into force of the updated standards.
Currently, the draft order has been sent for approval to the Department of Legal Service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The document is expected to be approved in January 2025.
