A unique project, “Grandmothers’ School,” has been launched in Saran schools. The older generation shares its knowledge and experience with children.
“Grandmothers’ School” is a project of the Saran city education department. It operates in every city school. The administration and the board of trustees of educational institutions select ten grandmothers of students. During the academic year, project participants meet with children and hold master classes, round tables, lectures, etc. with them.
A specific topic is discussed at each meeting.
– The topic of lectures or meetings depends on the project participant: some teach children to write poems, others tell interesting stories from their family and personal experiences, for example, tell about building a strong family, how to choose a profession, how to raise children. For example, representatives of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan taught children how to make felt souvenirs, - explained Duman Alimzhanov, press secretary of the Saran akimat.
Also, interactive educational games are held under the "School of Grandmothers" project. At one of the meetings, grandmothers of schoolchildren talked about traditional clothes of different nationalities and sang songs in different languages.
Meetings are held regularly in Saran schools. A plan of activities has been approved, which grandmothers will discuss with students.
