On January 29, a working meeting was held between the Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). Kanat Sharlapayev discussed with international partners the prospects for modernizing the country's utility sector, including the possibility of Kazakhstan's participation in the FELICITY II project.
The main focus was on the modernization of water supply and wastewater systems, including the construction of modern treatment facilities. The deterioration of utility infrastructure requires significant investments and advanced technologies, so the meeting participants considered possible options for introducing and financing digital solutions for efficient resource management.
The European Investment Bank confirmed its readiness to support priority infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan, and GIZ experts noted that the country's participation in the FELICITY II program will help introduce energy-saving and environmentally sustainable technologies.
As a result, the parties agreed to conduct a joint analysis of the current state of infrastructure, develop financing mechanisms, and prepare pilot projects for the modernization of the utility sector. The Ministry of Industry and Construction will continue to cooperate with international partners to improve the quality of public services and reduce the burden on the environment.
