The materials displayed in the “XX century” hall of the Military-Historical Museum of the National Military-Patriotic Center of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan are dedicated to the partisans who participated in the Second World War from Kazakhstan.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sylvain Giogé, the Military Attaché of France in Kazakhstan, Colonel Robert Azemann, and the Deputy Chairman of the “Veterans of the Armed Forces” RKB, retired Major General Marat Nagumanov.
– The 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War is not only a holiday, but thanks to you, this is the day when France was liberated. Many countries and peoples contributed to the liberation of our country. Among them are about 300 Kazakhs who fought on French soil. In particular, the glorious warriors Kabysh Omarov and Kadem Zhumaniyazov. We must remember those who fought far from home and died heroically, - the French ambassador noted.
Kazakhstanis, together with their French comrades-in-arms, liberated Toulouse and other cities in southern France as part of partisan detachments. Photographs have been preserved confirming the participation of our compatriots in the parade in honor of the liberation of this city. Among them was the first president of the Fifth Republic, the famous General Charles de Gaulle.
Retired veteran Major General Marat Nagumanov said that he knew him. He recalled that he came to the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad with Charles de Gaulle's wife. M. Nagumanov's personal archive contains a photo of them together at the Mamayev Kurgan.
The exhibition features personal belongings, documents and photographs of Kazakh soldiers who fought as part of partisan detachments. Among the souvenirs are an American radio transmitter from the Second World War, a trophy field telephone and a telegraph key. In addition, a copy of the certificate of Abibulla Koishybayev, who participated in the battles for the liberation of southern France as part of the first Soviet partisan regiment, and an excerpt from the newspaper "Defence de la France" are preserved.
On one of the stands, you can see the pages of Kazakhstani printed publications with the titles "In the forests of France", "The counteraction of the French commander", "In Paris, where the steppe always enters the fall", where memoirs of veterans of the partisan movement are published.
This year, Kazakhstan is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. The President of the country - Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the significance of this day: "May 9 has a special place in our native history. We achieved victory thanks to the heroism and steadfastness of the front-line soldiers, the self-sacrifice of the workers of the home front. "It is our sacred duty to forever remember our brave men who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country and the bright future of our generation," he said.
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to learn more about the scale of the anti-fascist campaigns and the Kazakhstanis who participated in them.
