Akim of Astana Zhenis Kasymbek wrote on his Instagram page about the progress of flood prevention work, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
"We continue active work against floods in the city. Public utilities have removed more than 4.5 million cubic meters of snow.
Currently, since the beginning of the year, 11.5 thousand linear meters of the ditch-trough network have been cleaned, 8,640 linear meters of collectors, 428 monitoring and rain-receiving wells have been washed, several pumping equipment at stations has been replaced, etc.
Also, reconstruction of the Yesil River bed (water-regulating dam, stage 5) has been carried out; work is underway to identify illegal connections to storm sewer systems, raids are being carried out in private housing sectors, etc.
All of the above work is ongoing. Civil defense agencies, public utilities, etc. are on constant alert. "Special attention will be paid to settlements and areas at risk of flooding, cleaning water supply structures, and constructing storm sewer systems," Zhenis Kasymbek wrote.
