VII International Digital Forum Digital Almaty 2025 Launches in Almaty with Theme “Industrial AI: Technologies for a New Era”

This year, the forum is dedicated to the transformation of industry under the influence of artificial intelligence and its key role in increasing the efficiency, safety and sustainability of production processes.
The forum hosted a plenary session of the Prime Ministers of the EAEU countries, which was attended by the heads of governments of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Iran, as well as the leadership of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The Digital Almaty 2025 forum will focus on Industrial AI and its impact not only on industry, but also on other key sectors of medicine, education, and the creative industry. This year, special attention was paid to the topics of sustainable development (ESG), cybersecurity, the financial sector, and the introduction of AI in medicine and biotechnology. For the first time, the forum hosted a drone football championship that combines technology and sports, as well as an interactive robot park showcasing cutting-edge developments.
The event will bring together 220 companies, including leaders in the mining, metallurgy and oil and gas sectors, startups in artificial intelligence, robotics, fintech and medtech. The forum brought together leading experts from around the world, such as Richard Stirling (ces Oxford Insights), Kaan Terzioglu (CEO of VEON Group), Toju Duke (founder of Bedrock ai), Yoram Weingaard (CEO Dealroom), and others.
During the Digital Almaty 2025 forum, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhaslan Madiev, noted that artificial intelligence is already changing the global economy and that Kazakhstan aspires to be among the leaders. “For this, it is important not only to introduce technologies, but also to create an ecosystem — training personnel, attracting investments, and developing infrastructure. Such forums will help to unite the efforts of the state, business and science, creating a platform for productive dialogue and joint initiatives.
The Minister announced that it is planned to train 1 million citizens in AI by 2030 within the framework of the national program. This includes 500 thousand schoolchildren, 300 thousand students, as well as 90 thousand civil servants within the framework of the AI Kyzmet Bootcamp program. Also, the International Center Alem.AI will be opened, which will combine educational programs, support for startups, laboratories of leading global companies, as well as developments in the field of AI for public administration.
To ensure access to modern knowledge in the field of AI, it is planned to develop the AI Movement and LMS educational platforms, as well as launch the AI Olymp Republican Olympiad among students. These initiatives will allow creating a professional community ready to work with advanced technologies.
The Minister also noted that it is necessary to develop digital infrastructure to implement ambitious goals in the field of artificial intelligence. Kazakhstan plans to provide computing power for the introduction of AI. This will serve as the basis for the creation of national language models, including KazLLM, and will also allow the development of AI agents for state bodies. The national platform will ensure secure and confidential work with data in the closed loop of state structures.
Institutional support is also an important direction. It is planned to adopt a draft law on AI regulation in 2025, as well as develop a national strategy for AI development - a key document that will define priorities, goals and objectives in this area. The forum will conclude the results of the Astana Hub AI Movement initiative, the republican stage of the FIRST Tech Challenge will be held, where 24 best school teams will compete for the Digital Ministry Cup. One of the main events will be the Industrial AI Battle - a competition of startups in the field of AI and digital transformation, with a prize fund of $ 60,000 and grants from forum partners.
The traditional Startup Alley will present 80 international innovative projects that will allow thousands of guests, including investors, to get acquainted with new ideas. In the "IndustryX" zone, Kazakhstani technology companies will present successful cases of AI implementation in industrial enterprises. During the panel discussion, leading subsoil users and technoparks from the USA, Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Iran will talk about the use of artificial intelligence in production processes.
More than 40,000 people are expected to participate in the two-day digital event.
The organizers of Digital Almaty 2025 are: the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Almaty City Administration, and the Independent Cluster Fund "Innovative Technologies Park".
