Brasília, 22 July 2026 – Meetings were held at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan between Ambassador Bolat Nussupov and Mr. Welber Barral, President of the Brazilian Institute for International Trade, Investment and Sustainable Development (IBCIS), as well as Mr. Augusto Braun, Director of the Brazilian Climate Institute (ICBVH).

The meetings focused on prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Brazil, as well as enhancing collaboration on a number of issues related to the environmental agenda that are of mutual interest.

Bolat Nussupov briefed his counterparts on the large-scale political reforms underway in Kazakhstan, including the entry into force of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan on July 1, 2026, the upcoming elections to the unicameral Kurultai, and the formation of the Kazakhstan People's Council (Qazaqstan Halyq Keńesi).

During the discussions, the parties exchanged views on the implementation of specific projects involving several Brazilian companies.

For his part, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan expressed his appreciation to his counterparts for their productive cooperation and, on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, presented them with Certificates of Appreciation from the Embassy in recognition of their contribution to strengthening and expanding Kazakhstan–Brazil bilateral relations.

Background: The Brazilian Institute for International Trade, Investment and Sustainable Development (IBCIS) is an organization that provides technical and operational support for activities and projects aimed at promoting the sustainable development of international trade, attracting foreign investment, and expanding overseas investments by Brazilian companies.

Founded in 2024, the Brazilian Climate Institute (ICBVH) serves as a bridge between policymakers, industry and support organizations to advance sustainable and effective climate protection. The Institute works closely with authorities in various Brazilian states within the framework of public-private partnerships. Its mission is to promote research on balancing economic interests with effective climate protection, as well as contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions.
