The Future of Education: How Kazakhstan is Preparing Personnel for the AI Era
On January 31, a panel session on the topic "National Education Strategy: Training AI Personnel" was held at the Digital Almaty 2025 International Technology Forum. Kazakh and foreign experts discussed the main issues and development prospects of education in the field of artificial intelligence.
In his speech, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kuanyshbek Yesekeyev emphasized the strategic importance of training personnel in the field of artificial intelligence for all industries and its role in the development of the country's digital economy.
In his introductory speech, the moderator of the session, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, noted the need to develop education in the field of AI and announced that 20 universities in Kazakhstan are training specialists in artificial intelligence.
Toju Duke, founder and CEO of Bedrock AI and Diverse AI, said that artificial intelligence should be inclusive and open. He noted the need to develop technologies that take into account the interests of all members of society and reduce bias in algorithms.
Richard Stirling, founder and CEO of Oxford Insight, shared his experience in using AI technologies in education. He said that AI-based personalized education systems can significantly increase access to education and adapt the learning process to the individual needs of students.
Paul Kim, Director of the Future Education Center at BIEG China, discussed sustainable models of educational technologies. He noted that innovation and digitalization allow not only to improve the quality of education, but also to make it widely accessible to students.
Paul Kim noted that Kazakhstani youth have unique talents. He was impressed by the level of talent and potential of the students and emphasized that this was a key factor in choosing Kazakhstan to launch the AI-Sana program.
Experts discussed strategies for training personnel in the field of AI, emphasizing the practical orientation of training, adaptation of educational programs to market demands, and the importance of interaction between universities, business, and government agencies.
Summing up the discussion, the Minister noted that Kazakhstan has all the necessary prerequisites for creating an AI-Nation. He noted that close cooperation between the state, business, and educational institutions plays an important role in this process, which will allow Kazakhstan to take a leading position in the field of artificial intelligence on the international stage.
