Astana, February 14, 2025 – The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO) have signed an agreement to extend the annual memorandum of understanding to ensure stable supplies of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the domestic market. The document was finalized as a result of constructive negotiations between the department and the company. According to the agreement, in 2025, TCO will supply 240,000 tons of LPG to the domestic market of Kazakhstan.
“First of all, I would like to note that liquefied petroleum gas is an important resource that is used all over the world not only as a fuel for vehicles, but also as a valuable hydrocarbon raw material for the development of petrochemicals. The conclusion of this agreement is an important step in ensuring the republic’s domestic needs for liquefied petroleum gas. As one of the producers of liquefied petroleum gas in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the guaranteed gas supplied by our partner TCO will help reduce the shortage in the domestic market and create favorable conditions for consumers of this product,” said Alibek Zhamauov, Vice Minister of Energy.
“TCO remains one of the main suppliers of commercial gas to the domestic market and continues to cooperate with Kazakhstan to explore potential opportunities in this strategically important area for the country. We will continue to support the goals of the Ministry of Energy and strive to make our contribution to the industrial and economic development of the country,” noted Kevin Lyon, CEO of TCO.
It should be noted that TCO also contributes to the development of the petrochemical industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Over the past few years, TCO has agreed and signed documents on the supply of propane raw materials to KPI, butane for the "Butadiene" project, and ethane for the "Polyethylene" project.
