Individual and relay winter triathlon competitions were held at the Triathlon Park in the capital. Participants covered various distances in running, cycling and skiing, the official website of the Astana akimat reports.
The winter triathlon distance consisted of three stages: a 2.5 km run, a 3 km bike ride and a 2.5 km ski race. About 100 people took part in it - both professional athletes and amateurs aged 18 and over.
In general, it took the athletes about an hour to complete all three stages.
“Despite the difficulty, not only professionals but also amateurs took part in the competition. For everyone, this is an opportunity to experience new emotions and gain experience. A person who runs well cannot ski. And in the cycling stage, it may take precedence,” noted Zhanat Kozhakhmetov, Secretary General of the Astana Triathlon Federation.
The main goal of the event is to develop triathlon, cycling, athletics and skiing among amateurs, promote a healthy lifestyle, and attract the majority of the population to sports.
In the individual competition for men aged 18-29, Vladislav Malykov came first and finished, and among women - Victoria Shiryaeva. Among women, Liliya Badrtdinova was the best in her category (30-39 years old), and among men - Dmitry Adamovich.
In the winter triathlon, in the 40-49 age category, skier Yerlan Taileuov became the winner among men, and Anna Lebedeva among women. In the 50-59 age category, Kairgeldy Mursalimov came first among men, and Tatyana Prilukova among women. In the 60+ category, Bakhyt Myrzageldy finished among men, and Valentina Titovskaya among women.
Also, M. Tokhanova, R. Zherdentapkanov, and M. Bekmagambetov took first place in the relay race.
Each participant was awarded a commemorative medal at the finish line.
The event was held with the support of the capital's akimat, the city's Department of Physical Culture and Sports, and the Astana Triathlon Federation.
It should be noted that this competition was the first start of 2025, which is included in the annual rating. The capital's triathlon federation has been holding the competition since 2018.
