In 2024, 530 people moved to the Abai region under the "Voluntary Resettlement to Increase Labor Mobility" program. 310 of them moved from the cities of Almaty, Astana, Shymkent and Almaty, Zhetysu, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Turkestan, and Mangistau regions. Also, 220 relatives from the PRC, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Russia returned to their historical homeland.
As part of state support measures, 503 people were provided with one-time material assistance to cover relocation expenses, and 152 families were reimbursed for housing rent and utility costs. 112 families were issued with economic mobility certificates for the purchase of housing. The amount of the certificate is 50 percent of the cost of housing per family, which does not exceed 1,160 AECM.
“State support measures are provided within the framework of supporting voluntary interregional relocation to a new place of residence. In particular, one-time material assistance is provided for relocation. This amounts to 70 AECM for the head of the family and each family member. If necessary, resettlers and relatives are sent for training to obtain technical and vocational education, short-term vocational training. "In addition, measures will be provided to promote employment and entrepreneurship development," said Aiman Nurlybek, head of the Abay region's Department of Employment and Social Programs Coordination.
Expenses for renting (rental) housing and paying for utilities will be paid. Those who moved to the city will receive 20 MCI per person, 25 MCI if the number of family members is 2-4 people, and 30 MCI if the number of family members is five or more. Those who moved to the village will receive 15 MCI per person, 18 MCI if the number of family members is 2-4 people, and 21 MCI if the number of family members is five or more.
In 2025, a regional quota for accepting migrants and migrants is planned for 499 people (244 relatives, 255 migrants) within the framework of the "Voluntary resettlement to increase labor mobility" program.
