Today, the regional governor Beibut Isabayev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan Bakhtiyor Ibragimov. The parties discussed issues of opportunities and potential for bilateral cooperation, - the press service of the Zhetysu region akim reports.
Warmly welcoming the official delegation, the regional head briefly spoke about the main areas of socio-economic development of the Zhetysu region.
- Zhetysu is an agrarian region. We process 65% of our own agricultural products, such as sugar beet, corn, wheat, oilseeds, meat, milk. Our region has good production potential. We export silicon, cast iron, lead-acid batteries, reinforced concrete products, marble chips, slate and other goods. In addition, the Zhetysu region is distinguished by its advantageous geostrategic and geoeconomic location. Zhetysu is the only region in the republic with 5 customs posts on the border with China. The Western Europe - Western China transcontinental highway passes through our territory. Also, the Khorgos - Eastern Gate special economic zone and the Khorgos International Center for Border Cooperation are located on our territory. We also have great potential in the tourism sector. That is, the coast of Lakes Alakol and Balkhash, as well as ecological and mountain tourism, are actively developing. In general, work is underway to attract investors in 5 strategic areas in the region: the development of the agro-industrial complex, transport and logistics, tourism, alternative energy and industry, - said B. Isabayev.
In turn, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov expressed gratitude for the warm meeting and noted the opportunities for further expanding bilateral relations. He also expressed his readiness to share experience in the tourism sector, which is one of the priorities in the development of Uzbekistan. The Ambassador also expressed interest in exporting meat from Zhetysu.
Also discussing future opportunities for regional cooperation, the parties expressed confidence that this familiarization meeting would contribute to strengthening economic, trade and cultural ties.
During his visit to the Zhetysu region, the official delegation led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan met with the business community in Taldykorgan, and tomorrow will get acquainted with the work of the Khorgos - Eastern Gate SEZ, the Khorgos SEZ, as well as the Nur Zholy automobile checkpoint.
It should be noted that, according to the results of 2024, the trade turnover between the Zhetysu region and Uzbekistan amounted to 17 million US dollars.
