Two international agreements were ratified at the plenary session of the Mazhilis chaired by the Speaker of the Chamber Yerlan Koshanov.
The Majilis has ratified the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and its member states, on the one hand, and Iran, on the other hand. According to Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev, it was concluded in order to create favorable trade conditions with Iran.
– Today, a preferential trade regime is applied between our countries for a limited list of goods. The new agreement provides for duty-free trade in almost 90% of the product range. Iran undertakes obligations to apply zero duties on most goods and not to apply restrictions on trade," the Vice minister reported.
At the same time, when importing particularly sensitive goods from Iran, import customs duties remain (cattle and poultry meat, dairy products, sugar, alcohol, cigarettes, baby food, honey, polymers and other petrochemical products, herbicides, packaging bags and others).
The Free Trade Agreement and the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between the EAEU and its member States, on the one hand, and Singapore, on the other hand, have also been ratified. The first document establishes mutual obligations to establish a duty-free trade regime for goods, except for particularly sensitive ones. The second provides the basis for the development of trade and economic relations between the parties.
