Karaganda residents became world champions in universal combat

Two Karaganda residents won gold medals at the World Championship in Unifight – universal combat. There is also one silver and two bronzes in the piggy bank of our countrymen.
Unifight is a young sport that includes overcoming obstacle courses and fighting in the ring.
The world champions in this discipline were Zhasulan Nurbolat from Bukhar-Zhyrau district and Nurasyl Kalikanov, a fourth-year student of the Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Zhasulan Nurbolat competed in the weight category up to 60 kg. He has been engaged in universal combat for only three months. Before that, the athlete had been passionate about freestyle wrestling for eight years.
– My coach told me about Unifight. It became interesting, and I wanted to try myself in this sport. Knowing the techniques and techniques of freestyle wrestling helped me a lot. I think if a person is interested in martial arts, then it will be interesting for him to try himself in something new," says the athlete.
Nurasyl Kalikanov became the champion in the absolute weight category.
Another fourth–year student of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Nurbek Zakarin, won the bronze medal in the category up to 85 kg.
Nurasyl Kalikanov also won a gold medal in the absolute weight category in the section "Protective equipment". In the same section, Nurbek Zakarin took the third place in the weight up to 85 kg.
The Unifight World Championship was held in Uzbekistan. In total, about 500 fighters from 17 countries took part in it.
