At the 19th session of the UNESCO Committee for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay, one of the ancient Kazakh rituals "Betashar" was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mankind.
45 nominations from 58 countries of the world were considered during the session. Betashar entered the list under the 43rd serial number, confirming its cultural significance at the international level.
To date, the UNESCO Representative List includes 13 elements, 5 of which belong to the national Kazakh cultural heritage: the tradition of performing kuis on dombra ("Kazaktyn dasturli dombirada kui oryndau dasturi"), "Kazak kuresi", the national game "Asyk atu", the spring rites of Kazakh horse breeders ("Kazak zhylky osirushilerin koktemgi merekelik salt-dasturleri") and the national dance "Orteke".
In addition, 8 elements are part of the common Turkic heritage: skills and techniques of making a yurt", "Aitys", "Nauryz", the tradition of baking "Katyrma", the legacy of Korkyt ata, the game "Togyzkumalak", the art of falconry ("Kusbegilik"), humorous stories of Khoja Nasreddin ("Kozhanasyrdyn azil mangimeli").
