In order to increase the tourist potential of the Turkestan region, large-scale projects are being implemented and tourist events are being organized.
First deputy akim of Turkestan region Zulpykhar Zholdasov met with representatives and observers of the countries participating in the Organization of Turkic states who arrived in Turkestan. At the meeting, the tourist potential and opportunities of the region were presented, as well as issues of increasing the number of tourists were discussed. Proposals were made to train qualified personnel in the field of tourism, improve the quality of Service.
Zulpykhar Zholdasov spoke about the potential of Turkestan and informed about the work on the development of the tourism industry.
– Welcome to the Holy Turkestan region! As the head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said, "Turkestan is the Golden pillar of our Atazhurt. Turkestan is the pride of all of us, the door to two worlds, the cradle of a male Turk, a sacred place known all over the world." At the informal summit of the heads of Turkic states in 2021, the city of Turkestan received the status of the spiritual capital of the Turkic world, and 2024 became "Turkestan – the tourist capital of the Turkic world". Tourism is one of the priority areas of the economy of the Turkestan region. The government and akimat are carrying out systematic work on the development of the tourism industry in the region. The main works are aimed at increasing the flow of tourists to the region. In this regard, cultural and mass events are held. Contacts with domestic and foreign tour operators have been established, and work is underway to increase the flight routes of the airport in Turkestan. I think that today's meeting dedicated to the representatives of the Turkic states will give a new impetus to the development of cooperation between the countries. I hope that during these trips you will get a special impression of Turkestan and return to your homeland with a new feeling, – said the first deputy governor of the region.
The delegation from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan thanked the turkestans for their hospitality and shared their impressions of the region. They noted that they are opening new locations for themselves and are ready to cooperate.
At the meeting, the head of the Regional Department of Tourism Nurdaulet Demeuov reported on the ongoing work in the industry. In the Region, 3 main directions of the tourism industry have been identified. In particular, work is underway to develop historical, educational, environmental and therapeutic tourism. Since the beginning of the year, 63 billion tenge has been invested in the industry. Major projects are being implemented to provide tourists with additional products and new tourist programs.
Since the beginning of the year, more than 400 thousand tourists have visited Turkestan region. The number of visitors to natural areas was 124 thousand people, the number of visitors to the sanatorium was 135 thousand people, the number of hotel guests was 210 thousand people. At the same time, 810 thousand people traveled to historical sites. According to the e-qonaq system, 19 thousand foreign tourists visited the region in 10 months of this year.
It should be noted that guests from Turkic countries took part in the international training seminar on tourism, organized to present the tourism potential and directions of development of Turkestan. According to the program, which will last for three days, participants will visit the spiritual and cultural center of Turkestan, get acquainted with historical sites in Otrar and Sauran districts.
