A credit line of the state bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti is being opened in Kazakhstan. This was announced by Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Edmondo Cirielli at a meeting with Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev, during which the current state and prospects of bilateral relations were discussed.

Arman Shakkaliyev noted that Italy is one of the main trading partners of Kazakhstan among the countries of the European Union, ranking third in terms of trade turnover. In 2023, the total trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $16.1 billion, which is 7.8% more than the previous year. Exports from Kazakhstan to Italy reached $14.8 billion, while imports amounted to $1.2 billion, which confirms the positive growth dynamics.

The trend towards an increase in trade has continued this year. In the eight months of 2024, the volume of trade increased by 33%, amounting to $13.8 billion, while exports of Kazakh products increased by 36%, reaching $12.9 billion.
Arman Shakkaliyev also noted that on October 29, Astana hosted the 9th meeting of the Kazakh-Italian Intergovernmental Working Group (IGC) on Economic Cooperation.
The meeting was held as part of the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev after his visit to Italy in January and plays a key role in discussing trade and economic issues.
Edmondo Cirielli, in turn, expressed gratitude for the invitation and stressed the productivity of the meetings.
"We are confident that our relations will only strengthen in the trade and economic sphere. Kazakhstan occupies a key position in Central Asia and connects Europe with the region. The volume of bilateral trade has grown significantly, and we are satisfied with the results achieved. We plan to open a credit line of our state-owned bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti in Kazakhstan. We are convinced that our relations will develop. Holding these meetings was an important stage that completed the six-year cycle of our cooperation," said Edmondo Cirielli.
