In Astana, officers of the Cybercrime Countermeasures Department detained a 29-year-old woman who was renting out non-existent houses during operational-search activities, the official website of the capital's akimat reported.
According to the press service of the Astana City Police Department, the suspect posted fake ads for renting houses on the Krisha.kz website. During correspondence with the victims, she promised to rent houses in Astana, Almaty, and the Borobai recreation center.
Citizens interested in renting apartments transferred advance payments to fake bank accounts, and then lost contact with the landlord. As a result, the victims lost their money.
As a result of urgent measures, police officers identified and detained the suspect. The detained citizen confessed to her guilt.
An investigation is currently underway, and it was revealed that the suspect was involved in 5 episodes.
The Astana City Police Department urges citizens to be careful and carefully check the information before transferring money. If you are a victim of fraud, you should immediately contact the police.
It should be noted that this year, employees of the cybercrime countermeasures departments of the Astana PD have revealed 66 criminal offenses in the field of information technology.
