Within the framework of the master class at the Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Medicine, interventional cardiologists of our country, led by leading interventional cardiologists such as Jose F. Diaz Fernandez from Spain and Aurel Toma from Austria, performed complex interventions with the installation of the latest generation self-expanding valve (for the first time in Almaty), TAVI operations and the use of drug-coated balloons.
The innovative TAVI method is intended for patients with severe aortic stenosis who have a high risk of complications and death during open aortic valve surgery. Its uniqueness lies not only in the invasive nature of the method, but also in the implanted valves.
The transcatheter aortic valve implantation system consists of a latest generation self-expanding valve and a flexible delivery system. Navitor is the only valve that opens on its own. The advantages of the valve - it allows you to perform safe operations.
The participants of the second master class had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with advanced methods of treating complex cases of coronary artery damage.
Expanding the indications for the use of drug-eluting balloons is one of the leading trends in interventional cardiology. Today, they are effectively used for chronic occlusions. In some cases, it is possible to do without a coronary stent.
“Our Spanish and Austrian colleagues are the most famous specialists in the world. We invited them to exchange innovative technologies. Kazakhstani medicine is moving forward in line with the times, not lagging behind the leading clinics of the world. Such complex operations are performed only by specialists who master surgical techniques. We have highly qualified specialists and the necessary equipment,” said Marat Pashimov, Chairman of the Board.
“We perform such operations and, thanks to the provision of all necessary consumables by the institute management, we can perform them at a high level. After the operation, the heart is fully functional. Patients get rid of pain, shortness of breath, and their quality of life improves,” said Alexey Kolesnikov, head of the X-ray unit.
4 operations were performed, all of them were successful. Among them was an 84-year-old patient.
