THE "SENAT OPEN" CHESS TOURNAMENT HAS BEGUN IN TURKESTAN

A major chess tournament, the "Senat Open" II Cup, has begun in Turkestan with the support of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and organized by the Chess Federation of Kazakhstan.
The initiative to hold this event was initiated by the Chairman of the Senate, Maulen Ashimbayev. The President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation Timur Turlov supported his idea, and the competition attracted the public's attention.
The competition, organized with the aim of promoting chess, was opened by the Deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Kadyrbek, Deputy of the regional akim Yertay Altayev, Deputy of the Turkestan regional maslikhat Bekarys Shoibekov, and the President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation Timur Turlov via an online video clip.
Civil servants, veterans, maslikhat deputies, members of public councils and media representatives are competing to advance to the next stage.
The competition consists of three stages. First, a qualifying stage is held. The second stage is the semi-final, and the third stage, that is, the republican final tournament, is held.
The cup is aimed at promoting chess among state structures and the public, as well as strengthening ties between regions and local representative bodies.
