Exchange of experience and cooperation with large companies: Zhambyl region delegation visited the Mersin province of Turkey

A delegation led by the Governor of Zhambyl region Erbol Karashukeyev paid a working visit to the Mersin province of the Republic of Turkey.

During the visit, the delegation participated in an investment forum and presented the investment opportunities of the region. At the same time, negotiations were held with the business community of Mersin on issues of exchange of experience, production cooperation and investment cooperation, and establishment of partnerships with leading industrial companies.

The intensive program of the visit included visits to large enterprises, the industrial-industrial zone of Mersin.

The working group was accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Turkey Erkebulan Sapiyev, Consul General Kuat Kanafeyev, and Honorary Consul in Mersin Ahmet Budan.

The delegation of Zhambyl region studied in detail the dynamics of economic development of the districts of Mersin province adjacent to the Akkuyu nuclear power plant under construction. According to the Mersin administration, projects in this area have allowed the economy of the Gülnar and Silifke districts to grow by 40 percent.

The multiplier effect of the construction of the station was also discussed. The pace of development of small and medium-sized businesses in the Mersin province has increased.

The delegation visited a housing complex for workers near the construction site of the nuclear power plant. A total of 24 dormitories have been built (3,200 people).

Erbol Karashokeyev discussed with the leadership of Medcem Cement Group active measures to stimulate the development of construction and introduce world standards into the construction industry. Medcem Cement plant is one of the largest cement plants in the world with an annual capacity of 6.6 million tons. Entrepreneurs from Zhambyl region told their Turkish colleagues about the rich mineral and raw materials resources of the region, shared their experience, and proposed the main areas of further cooperation. The delegation learned more about the potential of the construction industry in Mersin, using the example of the construction of a large residential complex for future workers of the nuclear power plant. In addition to apartments of various sizes, kindergartens, schools, business, healthcare, sports facilities, playgrounds, a hotel, a cultural center will be built on the territory of the facility, electric charging stations for vehicles, and solar panels on the roofs that will generate electricity. The regional governor instructed to study the experience of the Turkish side in housing construction and introduce new technologies. During the visit to the industrial zone of Mersin, the delegation got acquainted with production facilities and discussed the issue of creating joint ventures. In particular, the delegation visited the Yılbor Boru plastic pipe plant, the Gökmak steel structure and ventilation system plant, as well as the Berdan Çevata fastener production plant.

Plans for joint implementation of projects for the production and processing of agricultural products at the Arbel Group grain and legume processing plant were discussed.

Ulusu Pompa is a company specializing in the production of a wide range of pumping equipment. This direction is relevant for the Zhambyl region, given the large-scale work on the effective use of groundwater and drilling wells.

The Asya sera company presented projects for the production of durable structures for greenhouse construction.

The head of the region invited companies to open high-tech production facilities in the Zhambyl region and spoke about measures to support entrepreneurship, including the provision of ready-made production sites for new enterprises.

During the bilateral meeting, Erbol Karashokeyev and the Governor of Mersin Province Atilla Toros discussed the potential for further strengthening and expanding strategic partnership in various areas. Agreements were reached to strengthen trade and economic ties between the Moyinkum and Shu districts of Zhambyl region and the Gulnar and Silifke districts of Mersin province.
