A large-scale raid was conducted on a hookah bar in the Baikonur district of the capital, the city akimat's official website reported.

During a one-night raid, 5 people were fined 300 thousand tenge.

In accordance with Article 441 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses, a public Raid measures to prevent and suppress the consumption of tobacco products, including heated tobacco products, and hookahs in public catering establishments continue.

Since the beginning of the year, a total of 54 facts of the consumption of tobacco products, including heated tobacco products, and hookahs in public catering establishments have been identified in the Baikonur district.

It was noted that when developing the raid action plan, law enforcement agencies took into account the complaints of city residents and analyzed violations in the specified areas. The police noted that such raids will be carried out on a regular basis, intensifying on weekends and holidays.

Let us recall that the resolution on the introduction of a ban on smoking hookahs in public places entered into force on March 14, 2013. In case of violation of the relevant requirement, hookah smokers will be fined in the amount of 15 MCI. For repeated violations - 20 MCI. And the owners of the establishments will be fined from 20 to 60 MCI.
