Akim of Abai region Berik Uali began his working trip to the districts from Abai district, the sacred place where such great figures as Abai, Shakarim, and Mukhtar were born. During the trip, the regional head discussed the preparation for the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayev and visited several socio-cultural facilities in the district.
The regional head first visited the Abai-Shakarim mausoleum in Zhidebay and paid tribute to the greats. He visited the memorial complex, Abai's museum-house and service center. He visited Karaul Hill, Abai Park, and the district House of Culture, where the anniversary will be held, and got acquainted with the plan of events and new projects. The regional akim asked about all the issues in the district.
District akim Meirzhan Smagulov asked for assistance in installing an antenna match device to provide Zhidebay with the Internet. According to him, despite the increase in the number of tourists visiting Zhidebay in recent years, there is a shortage of places to serve them. There is a lack of equipment to clean the territory of the memorial complex, and the salaries of the employees responsible for this are meager.
The district akim also asked for assistance in paving the 21-kilometer road leading to the Kunanbai family cemetery in Akshoky and the Kunanbai Museum there. There is a demand for this. After all, the number of tourists visiting the sacred place is increasing day by day. The head of the region instructed to develop and submit a comprehensive plan for strengthening the infrastructure of Zhidebay and developing tourism in the region in the near future.
“It is not for nothing that I began my first trip to the regions from the soil where the greats were born. This year is the 180th anniversary of Abai Kunanbayuly. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in his New Year's greetings: “We must adequately celebrate the anniversary of the great Abai.” The government is undertaking a lot of work in this direction. As a region named after a thinker, the burden of responsibility is heavy on us. We must start preparing for the anniversary at a high level from now on. We will give priority to educational and instructive events,” the head of the region said.
The regional akim also visited the Kunanbai cemetery in Akshoky, made a pilgrimage, and got acquainted with the work of the Kunanbai museum. He visited Borili, where the great writer Mukhtar Auezov was born, and saw the museum there.
During his visit, the regional head also got acquainted with the work of the social service center being renovated in the Karaul village. The two-story building was donated to the state by Seyfolla Rakhimbayev, a native of the region, as part of the “Look at your village - know your citizen” project. Funds were allocated from the regional budget for the repair of the facility. Residents of the region will receive rehabilitation measures here. The regional akim instructed to complete the construction on time and improve the area around the building.
“Today, I visited the historical and cultural facilities of the Abay district and got acquainted with all the current issues of the region. Currently, we are reviewing the regional budget. We fully support the district. "City and district akims should focus on attracting investment, not just on budget funds. Both the President and the Government attach special importance to this. Therefore, other districts should also work together with citizens who are passionate about their homeland, like Seyfolla Rakhimbayev, and mobilize them to improve the region where they grew up. This is a common task for all of us," the regional akim said.
