Akim of Atyrau region Serik Shapkenov met with Raisin of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in Kazan. The meeting, which is part of a working visit of the delegation from Atyrau region, is aimed at strengthening interregional cooperation and developing relations between Russia and Kazakhstan, the press service of the regional akim reports.

Speaking at the meeting, Serik Shapkenov expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of cooperation in the petrochemical sector:

“Atyrau is the oil capital of Kazakhstan, and Tatarstan has extensive experience in this area. We highly appreciate the technologies and practices you have established. We need to accelerate the development of the petrochemical complex, and in this process, taking as a basis successful methods and approaches that have proven their effectiveness will be an important strategic step. We are interested in studying best practices and implementing them in our region,” the regional governor said.

The parties discussed the prospects for economic and industrial partnership, exchanged experience in implementing modern technologies, and also discussed the possibilities of partnership in energy, petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, light and food industries, IT, and other strategic areas.

The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov noted the high potential for joint work:

“The heads of state Vladimir Putin and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev have been actively supporting partnership at the regional level. We value the kinship relations between us. Kazakhstan is one of Tatarstan's leading foreign partners." The meeting also focused on issues related to the development of the industrial zone, investment attractiveness, as well as creating a comfortable environment in cities and villages. The delegation of Atyrau region visited a number of industrial facilities during a two-day visit initiated by the Chairman of the Tatarstan, and got acquainted with the work of the petrochemical, IT industries, and educational institutions. The negotiations resulted in the implementation of joint projects aimed at the economic development of Atyrau region.
