At a meeting of the staff, where issues of mass sports development in the region were discussed, the head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports Meirambek Makhambetov proposed opening a "Mass Sports Development Center" in each district of the region.
The proposal is aimed at increasing the accessibility of sports events and facilities for residents, as well as attracting more people, especially young people, to regular physical education classes.
"The work of the center will be aimed at organizing mass sports events, promoting sports projects, modernizing industry sports competitions, holding school and student leagues, as well as developing sports urbanism. The creation of such centers in each district will help improve sports infrastructure, increase the number of people involved in sports, and provide access to quality sports services, including for people with disabilities. Special attention will be paid to the effective organization of leisure time for people of retirement age, which will allow not only to maintain physical health, but also to improve the quality of life of the older generation,” explained Meirambek Makhambetov.
According to the head of the department, today 407 thousand people, which is 43% of the region's population, are systematically involved in sports. Last year, 2,971 sports events were organized, in which more than 394 thousand people participated.
In 2025, it is planned to open a sports complex for people with disabilities in Aktobe, which will develop at least 22 sports, which will significantly increase the accessibility of sports activities for this category of the population.
It should be noted that this year, competitions in Kazakh wrestling, archery, tug-of-war, asyk shooting and langi shooting will be held in the region on the occasion of the National Sports Day, scheduled for March 20. It is also planned to hold a “Running Marathon” on June 1 and the “Wrestling Stars” project to promote freestyle wrestling. On August 16, Sports Day - the project "Kazhimukan Zholy" will be organized. In September, an international tournament in audaryspak will be held in honor of the 350th anniversary of Möngke Bi.
The regional akim instructed to work out the idea of opening "Mass Sports Development Centers". He noted the need to strengthen the work of the Sports Council and attract more young people to regular physical education, starting with children. The akim also spoke about the importance of developing Paralympic sports and creating conditions for people with disabilities, including opening a sports complex for them.
"The development of mass sports is not only the creation of sports facilities, but also the formation of a healthy lifestyle among the population. We need to work on improving infrastructure, training specialists and supporting sports initiatives at all levels. This will help us not only strengthen the health of the nation, but also increase the level of sports achievements in the international arena," the akim said.

An expanded staff meeting was held under the chairmanship of Akim of Abai region Berik Uali. The meeting, attended by city and district akims via video, discussed the progress of flood preparations, the return of unused lands, and the effective use of budget funds.
At the meeting, the regional akim's advisor, the head of the department, and the executive secretary of the Abay regional branch of the AMANAT party, who had monitored the situation in 9 flood-prone districts of the region on the direct instructions of the regional akim, reported to the regional head.
Reporting on the current situation in the Zharma, Aksuat, and Kokpekty districts, the regional akim's advisor proposed not to collect water in the Shar reservoir in the Zharma district until the first flood has passed, and to extend the dam outside the city of Shar. The residents of Tassai village and other settlements of the Kokpekty district expressed the need to expand the Karagandykol bypass road and extend the water dam in the Kokzhaiyk village to ensure uninterrupted access during floods.
The regional head, who got acquainted with the flood preparations in the Borodulikha, Beskaragai, Abai, Zharma, Aksuat, Kokpekty, Urzhar, Makanchy, and Ayagoz districts, instructed to take the warnings into account and intensify the work.
“I have specially sent experienced leaders who have been akims for many years, who know the situation of the region well, to the flood-prone areas that were flooded last year. Their warnings are justified. District akims, please take strict control of the work on flood prevention, clearing water channels and pipes from snow and complete it as soon as possible. Melted snow water and water coming from the steppes should not be left unattended. I got acquainted with the life and work of the cities of Semey, Kurchatov and the Abai and Ayagoz districts and monitored the flood preparations. "I plan to visit other districts in the future," the regional akim said.
