Comprehensive measures to improve the quality of medical care for children in Kazakhstan allowed to reduce the infant mortality rate by 8.3% in 2024, and the neonatal mortality rate decreased by 19%, noted Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova at an expanded meeting of the department’s board.

“Kazakhstan is the first and only country in Central Asia to introduce the important principle that one nurse should care for one baby in the intensive care unit into the standard of neonatal care,” said A. Alnazarova.

In order to reduce congenital malformations, which take the first place in the structure of child mortality, 15 “One-day clinics” were established in 13 regions of the country, where 50 thousand pregnant women underwent examination and treatment.

As a result, Early detection of congenital malformations increased by 10%. For the first time, "Fetal Medicine" was introduced for intrauterine treatment of fetal pathologies using minimally invasive methods.

"All of the above measures made it possible to increase the survival rate of infants from 88% to 93% by the end of 2024 and reduce infant mortality from congenital malformations by 15%. It is necessary to complete the creation of one-day clinics in all regions by the end of the year," the head of the department noted in his speech to the participants of the regional board.
