Akim of Astana Zhenis Kasymbek wrote on his Instagram page about student dormitories that will be opened this year, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
"We will continue to systematically build infrastructure and social facilities in the city. These are life support systems, educational, medical, sports, etc. facilities. As you know, the number of students coming from other cities is increasing every year. Together with the responsible ministry, universities, and investors, we are working to increase the number of places in dormitories.
For example, last year, 7 student dormitories for 4,200 places were built and put into operation. These are dormitories for students of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, "Turan Astana" University, Medical University, Astana IT University, etc.
This year, 8 more dormitories are planned to be put into operation. They will allow opening an additional 3.5 thousand places. In addition, land plots have been allocated for the construction of educational buildings for higher education institutions, which also provide for the construction of student dormitories.
A project office for the construction of student dormitories has been operating since 2023. The main task of the front office is to create favorable conditions for the implementation of the state program for the construction of dormitories and provide students with housing, as well as provide legal, advisory and expert support to universities and potential investors," Zhenis Kasymbek wrote.
